CAR FREE DAY

Every Sunday is CAR FREE DAY in Jakarta.  In the center of town, the city closes about 3-4 miles of the two busier streets to all motorized vehicles from 6am to 11am.  The streets are full of people walking and bicycling.  Gail and I went down early before church recently and took some pictures.  It is a real happening!  People of all ages enjoy the time.  So do the vendors and people advertising and selling food, balloons, etc.  There was even a display of custom bicycles.  As you look through the pictures, note all the different styles and bright colors.

They start young!  She is enjoying riding her pink bike!

A family out for a morning ride!
If you don't have a bike, hitch a ride!

Three young ladies out for a ride.

A father and his three girls have a fun time.  Looking at the yellow bags, they must have been shopping!
Two ladies enjoying a walk.  Note the heavy clothing they are wearing--this was at 8am and it was already around 85 degrees!
Custom bikes--there must have been at least 40 bikes on display.

Rabbits for sale--these young ladies were very interested!

AXA is one of the many cell phone vendors.  Note the young lady to the right, when she saw I was taking a picture, she wanted to be in it!
