6th International Classic Car Show

 

 

Gail and I attended the 6th International Classic Car Show--billed as the largest classic car show in Southeast Asia.  Old classic cars are very rare in Indonesia.  There was about 100 cars on display.  We met a man and his wife, Galih Laksono, that own a hot rod shop, G-speed specializing in V8s, in Jakarta.  He had a display comparable to what you would see in the states from a small shop.  Very impressive.  They had been to America and toured the Edelbrock factory, West Coast Customs, etc.  He met Vic Edelbrock and Chip Foose.  Not the best pictures...not the best lighting.......but you get a feel for the classic/hot rod scene in Jakarta.



This is Galih and his wife.  The have traveled to the states on business and she lived at one time for five years in Lexington Kentucky.

The following three pictures are of a car that Galih built for his wife.  It is a Holden made in Australia.  Comparable to a Nova.  This car is very nice--would hold it own at local car shows, cruise-ins, World of Wheels, etc.  It is powered by a 502 big block, 400 transmission, etc.  He bought the engine from GM and had it shipped to Indonesia.  At about 3 times the cost of what you or I would have paid!  The stance is right, the interior is nice, etc.
